Hey babe!

How are you kiddo? 

I wonder what it’s like up there? 

Do you have play parks a soft play? I hope you have a kind angel friend who helps you get to the top of the high slides. You were always braver than your little legs would allow. 

Do you have your own room? I kind of hope not…you always preferred to be around others, how you’d look at me with those big eyes til they’d eventually close and drift of to sleep. I hope you have someone who cuddles and sings to you when sleep doesn’t come easily. 

Do you go to nursery and still try so many new foods you’d never consider tasting at home? Do you sneak under there play dough table and explore the whole room checking everything that’s going on, making your teachers jump and smile as you’d approach like a tiny ninja like you used to? I hope you have teachers whose faces light up when they see your little toothless smile.

Do you see us down here? I hope you catch all the kisses Milo blows you every night and see that you are always Caden and Jacob’s iPhone screensavers…a big deal for teens! Do you hear dad listening to his Albie playlist on Alexa, is it you that keeps adding in random little songs to it? I bet you’re laughing. I hope you have somewhere to listen to music, you were quite the dancer!

And finally I really hope you know that however sad I look, however confusing I find this life now, however much I miss you or my heart is broken…you are always the best thing ever. Albie, you made my life. I hope you have a wise angel who whispers to you everyday just like I did since the day you were born, and if you don’t, I hope you still hear me-

I wish you could answer this letter, but I also hope you’re far too busy having fun flying through the clouds. 

So maybe-if you could- on days like this when I wake up sad…send me something- a feather, a butterfly, a really good frappachino…it doesn’t matter what, I always know when it’s from you. 

So if you do that I’ll have a little word with the angels to see if they can give you sooo much strawberry ice cream tonight! Deal?
