Your Auntie Kerri should be turning 40 years old today, isn’t that a big number!
I hope you managed to get her a present, if they even have shops up there? If they do I suggest a book and a nice purple scarf.
But I know she’ll be delighted with just a kiss from you.
I hope you’re making her laugh and smile, something that was sometimes was so hard for her to do, to feel that.
But in your company, I bet she’s full of joy just as she and I were as we tried to build up the courage to jump into the freezing sea from the super high pier.
I hope you enjoy cake together. Eat it all! Tell her not to care about calories or if she has chocolate round her mouth.
I bet you’ll have it on your face and hands and whole self, go on…grab her cheeks and cover her too. She’ll laugh.
And I hope you tell her ‘thank you’. From me. Not just for being my wonderful sister down here for 28 years but -perhaps even more importantly now- for being your Auntie up there in the sky.
I wish she wasn’t there, I wish you weren’t there! But it’s that’s how it has to be…I’m so glad you have her.
She’s was so gentle and great and smart and crazy yet rational all at the same time.
She’ll teach you how to read and how to do tricks on trampolines (or clouds!) and even how to write your name. Albie. What a beautiful name.
There’s very few people I trust with my children…I trust her. She will keep you safe. She will love you and you will so love her.
So give her a hug, today on her birthday and all the days, tell her everything’s ok now because you have her and she has you.
❤️Happy birthday Kerri❤️
